As our teaching programme and studio work has expanded, we are delighted to announce
that Teacher Kwak will be taking on a new apprentice this year.
This is a very unique opportunity for someone eager to learn the ins and outs of a working
pottery studio and ceramics teaching programme in Korea!

The successful applicant during their time here will gain experience in traditional Korean wheel throwing and onggi techniques, with the opportunity to meet pottery enthusiasts from all around the world who come to Korea to learn. The role will be primarily focussed on the teaching programme of Ceramic Masterclass, paired with both administrative and studio work.

Essentials:

fluent or conversational language ability (at minimum) in both English and Korean

clay experience is required, although all the necessary skills will be taught in our studio

3 year commitment
We are looking for
someone who:
-
wants to build their skills and discipline in ceramics;
-
has self drive and initiative;
-
wants to learn how to run a profitable production studio;
-
would like to develop a true mentor in the field;
-
is willing to invest in themselves for the long term, with a desire to eventually establish a career in the field either in production or as an artist
We will provide:

Mentorship and opportunities for practice and independent work outside of working hours

Occasional firing opportunities for individual work also possible using electric/gas/wood kilns on site

Assistance procuring a private apartment in the artist village within walking distance of the studio (costs not covered)
-
Lunch with the team on working days and full access to food and facilities in the well-stocked studio kitchen
